I'm wondering if you are having any problems with the embedded CA security certificates store in Win 7? Specifically, when you surf the net using a chrome/chromium-based browser, are you getting a zillion security errors that prevent you from reaching various sites? Are you still able to update the certificates store? Thanks!

So far no issues yet. I have had the Microsoft with windows 10 try to get me to upgrade my computer. I have a duel boot. windows 7 on one hard drive and windows 10 on the other. I have some old games that just won't work on windows 10 so i have this. I have the windows xp disc with service packs 1,2,3. A direct X11 disc and the drivers for it but the games will play on windows 7 so, who knows down the road. :whistling:

I have been researching the KB stealth-installs M$ is deploying to force Win 7 conversion to Win 8 or 10. A rather huge list of them. One KB critter in fact has like ten versions you have to uninstall in the correct order. Seems like MS$ is quite desperate. Guess they are trying to stop Win 7 from becoming the next XP.

Sounds like your issues might in fact be coming from refusing certain updates. I know Chrome does this on Vista because it's not supported anymore. For the months long duration I've had 7 installed on a machine I've not once had a W10 or 8 force on me.

I've been using Windows 7 Pro and still am.... But, not with the Chrome or Chrome based browsers, no issues with web sites using firefox

I've not had any issues with Win7 Pro, as I have not yet allowed it to connect to the internet, hence it remains beyond the reach of M$. I have had problems with XP Pro, which despite the EOS/EOL threats (like five years ago), was continuously deluged with KB updates til last year when I locked out Microsoft. That was enough to get me to research if Lil Billie was using the same tactics on Win 7.

Obviously that was the case, so I set about researching which KB critters to block or uninstall. There are over 65 of them designed to either enable surreptitious stealth-upgrade of Win 8 or 10 (as detailed in the links above), or else backport the corporate malware in Win 8 or 10 to Win 7. One of them, M$ has so far issued 20+ different versions since 2015 (KB2952664). If your rig remains untouched by this rot, you are lucky. I intend to take no chances, and will be transitioning to Win 7 with extreme caution.

I do not think your going to see forced Windows 10 installs today, most of your links were dated back to 2016 when M$ was sneaking W10 into peeps pc's. Today with Windows 7 no longer supported, I really do not worry about updates, much less W10 forced installs....just not seeing that. I think there was a reg fix for that too, but that was back in 2015/16 and I can not recall what it was

So with that context I'm to assume you're not even using Win 7 yet and that your cert issues are in XP based on the bold. That was what my reply was about because you made it seems like you were having cert issues in 7. XP and Vista are out, due to browser updates internet usage is almost effectively killed unless you use the Integral version of XP that comes preinstalled with Basilisk. Vista as far as I know has no alternate route even fully update. 7 has been unfazed so far and I can use it like it's W10.

With W10 adoption rates high Microsoft hasn't been pulling their shit for a long time now. I have my 7 test machine online with no modifications, fully updated, and not a single peep about upgrades. In fact, my 7 test machine is the least modified machine I have even compared to my main rig using 10 that has several OS mods to disable things.

Yes! I have A windows 7 laptop that won't even load YouTube 9 times out of 10...

Only issue i have found is that the OS will not take my Pass-key. It does ask if i want to register this software. Not sure if it will lock me out or not.
