i am about to upgrade from xp to vista, what i would like to know is, is it possible for me to run xp and a linux distro through vista? what do i need? ive heard something about virtual something or other, im really not too clued up on this issue. any help would be great.

Are you wondering if you can like triple boot linux xp and vista?? I think i must be misunderstanding.

no, apparently you can run other OS's under windows i.e. open up ubuntu like you would an application?

So what you want to do is run ubuntu in like a Virtual Machine. I would check out http://www.virtualbox.org/. They allow you to run a second OS in a virtual wold just like it seems you mean.
