Explorer.exe seems to going crazy, especially when I search something in the start menu or open something like regedit or msconfig. It will max out to 100% cpu and stay like that for minutes before settling back down. Any ideas on how I can fix this? I don't have any new startup items or services besides the ones I've always had.

Can anyone help me with this? The problem seems to be getting worse. I tried disabling all non microsoft services and all startup items, but explorer.exe was still maxing out my cpu. I thought it might be the superfetch service, but that wasn't it b/c nothing happened when I disabled that. I just remember that I did install Nero the other day, but none of it's services are running. I also updated my motherboard's bios a couple of days ago, but I don't see why that would have anything to do with it. Any help would be very appreciated.

Nvmd, I finally fixed it. I went to the start menu properties and told it to "don't search for files".
