At work, I have been tasked with creating an ultra small XP installation as we are planning on re purposing old computers to use as thin clients.

What I'm looking to do is have the computer boot to a RDP session.

I have slimmed it down as much as I can using nLite and created a username that automatically logs on. I modified the registry to not load explorer.exe and created a batch file that will load the RDP session and reload it if it is ever closed.

Is there any way I can automate this process so I can more quickly create these thin clients?

Are all of the machines the same, in terms of hardware?

You can look at creating a ghost image of the machine, which can be rolled out to multiple machines at the same time.

This was some time ago but Norton use to have a great Ghost imaging program although i'm sure there are others, have a google into it.

You could create these even if the hardware was different but you would need to remove all system drivers.
