Scan Disk problem?

I ran scan disk in Win8 by using the powershell. It stated that a reboot would be needed to start it. Upon reboot a dang Windows update initiated. Afterwords disk scanning started but has been at 11% for 2 hours now. It states -
"Scanning and repairing drive (C: 11% complete"
The computer hasn't froze because the processing circle is still moving and I am hearing drive chatter.

Should I reboot and attempt it again? or leave it. I know scans can take awhile but should it stop in one spot for hours?

Harddrive scan can take a while. Just leave it alone.
Are you having problems with the drive since you are scanning it?

Some time this scan may take 6 hours. I have that experience.
Don't abort it. Let it to go.
