Yes, it is distibuted free. You can buy it for about $30 and get it on CD with all the books etc.

99% of all linux distros are free...that is the whole idea behind linux...you have a few, such as Xandros and a couple other that aren't free.

When you pay for linux, your buying all the manuals and the CD's as well.
