Hi

I wish to ask if anyone can help me. Recently my PC has started freezing up, at no certain point, I could be on website or playing a game etc and the whole PC just freezes up. I can;t even get a task manager up or move the mouse etc.

I have no choice but to switch off the pc.

Im running window 8 and all my updates are up to date, none of the viruses or spyware is saying I have any issues in that department. I have also double checked all recent programmes I have uploaded, and have deleted some.

Does anyone know what could be causing the trouble?

Computer Specs?

Could be overheating. Could be RAM. Could be a bad power supply. Could be CPU. Could be a Windows error.

Let's start with the overheating. Open the case and clean out the dust from the vents and fans. I use CoreTemp (but there are other monitoring tools) to watch my CPU tempurature. Start with one of these and watch how hot the CPU gets.

Pop out the ram and reseat it back into it's slot. You can also run Memtest86+.

Let's see where that gets us.

Also regarding the ram, Turn the computer off and unplug it from the power then hold the power button down which will flush the ram and get rid of everything.
