Could someone help me out? I have an odd problem with my monitor where after unplugging it and plugging it back in, it's locked in 8 bit mode. By locked, I mean if I go to display properties 8 bit is the only choice. The only way to fix this is to restart the computer. This PC had been sitting in a family member's house for nearly 10 years before we dug it out. Is this supposed to happen? How can I stop it? I have an HP Pavilion desktop that is running Windows XP Home Edition, Service Pack 1. Can't upgrade the Service Pack as I'm not connected to the internet. Please help!
