Media Player and sound help

when i try 2 play music on media player or i try 2 play a game on my computer but i can liston to music on frostwire or limewire..but windows media player or games it will bring up THE application or DLL C:/WINDOWS/dsound.dll is not a valid windows image. please check this against your installation diskette.

please if anyone knows anything about this it would be a great help
