Default mac computer virus... wtf?

so my mother and brother share a computer. i had them get a mac since there damn near virus proof, and after what happened to the last computer they shared, i thought that would be a good idea.

so a pop up ad came up this morning "your computer has viruses, click hear to get rid of them" she did, installed some program, and i cant get rid of it now. since then porn pops up on her computer, as well as the annoying upgrade to get rid of these fake viruses crap all the time. the program is called mac guard. any ideas how to get rid of this crap?

Apple is issuing a fix.

BTW, Macs aren't anywhere near 'virus proof'. Windows computers were just too ubiquitous and vulnerable, allowing Macintoshes to remain under the malware radar.

Any platform is virus-proof if the person using it is using a good AV + isn't oblivious to obvious virus sites

use the Mac free trial, see how you get on Kaspersky Lab United States | Antivirus Computer Security
EVGA SLI Micro Z68 // Intel i5-2500k @ 4.4GHz // 8GB Corsair Vengeance 1866MHz // Overclocked ASUS GTX 660 Ti // Corsair Carbide SPEC-03 // Kingston Hyper-X 120GB // 2TB WD Green + 500GB WD Black

eeeek. you shouldn't listen to websites that say "you have virus, install this!".
but your mother did...okay. try AV for Mac, I guess.
and MAC isn't completely virus/malware free.

Have you gotten rid of the program or do you still require further assistance with this problem?
