I need help

*Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, pretty new here*

Well unfortunatly, I ran out of time to activate Windows Media Center on my computer and seeing as how I used my dad's CD on my computer to load it, the serial number would not activate it. Well, I accidently logged off and now it will not let me back on.

I put a regular Windows XP Home Edition on an empty partition on my computer in an attempt to recover all of my files from Media Center and I always get the Access Denied error message when I try to view the files via My Computer.

Is there any way that I can access my files from the new partition or get into my old account to back my files?

Well if its legitimate you can contact microsoft to get an activation code.

It was my dad's CD, so I don't think that they would condone the same CD being used on two different computers.

It doesnt matter, just tell them that you have updated your pc components and they should do it for ya.
