Hello, I'm new here and this is some background info about me pertaining to my question. I know nothing about Unix, except that its a stable comand line system. I'm pretty good with regular desktop PC's.

My question is this:

I'm looking for a used Unix work station to learn on and experiment with at home and I need to be pointed in the right direction, like what not to get. I wan't somthing used but not to old or outdated.

Would like to be able to also use it for CAD, and the Internet.

Thanks!
Rob

Unix is more server orientated. try linux or BSD.

You can actualy dual boot linux distros with your windows system. I suggest redhat linux

Unix is proprietary software so you'll have to pay to get it. Pay a lot actually. Try Linux or BSD but if then ur looking for updated and cutting edge stuff then go for linux. Try Fedora Core 2. Or use a Live CD if u wanna try it out without installing it 1st...
