Easy software to pull files off hardware

Well my girlfriends mom PC is doing the same thing my sisters did awhile ago.. When you try to log in it loads your personally settings and then it just logs right back out to the log in screen. So I recommended she reformat. Which she doesn't know how to do. Whats a good bootable software I can mail her to get her files off her PC with on a external harddrive. ?

How knowledgeable is she? You could download the Ubuntu setup CD which also works as a bootable CD, however it's Linux. She probably would not know how to navigate to her user folder anyway. I could somehow send a 180 MB ISO image of BartPE, which is like a bootable cd of Windows XP, however I will have to supply instructions to get to the file manager because the GUI is different. You may have to supply a CD of XP. Click my name, send me a private message.
