Dvds and other higher-res videos are "skipping"

what kinda processor and how much ram do you have?

edit- woohoo click :) good movie

and try pressing ctrl-alt-delete, and click the processes tab and make sure nothing is taking alot of cpu usage (alot = 50 and up)

I've got an AMD Duron and I have 512 MB RAM

I usually have around 30 - 35 processes running. I was forced to watch the rest of the movie on a TV... :(

That could have alot to do with it, too many processes or services running in the backgroung will sometimes cause that to happen. Also not having enough memory or updated codecs will cause that too.

you could try playing dvd's using realplayer as a media player or you can try free dvd software like :

http://www.cliprex.com/

or you could just shell out some $ and get a good player you know won't give you problems. one of my computer's came with Power Dvd :

http://www.cyberlink.com/multi/products/main_1_ENU.html

That player is the best i have ever used so far...Hope that helps.
