Default Brand new laptop is constantly freezing/crashing! Please HELP

I received my new laptop 2 days ago.

It is a Toshiba Satellite Pro L450D-12X
Running on Windows 7
Processor - AMD Sempron(tm) SI-42 2.10ghz
Installed memory(RAM) 1.00gb (766mb usable)
32bit operating system

Not sure what other info I need to give, but a description of my problem is...when the laptop was first up and running it was crashing while offline and wouldn't shut down or log off on command so I had to manually shut down laptop.
After this while online it constantly freezes, 'Internet explorer has stopped working' is a constant message so i tried google chrome but it doesn't work at all. Firefox at first was a bit of an improvement but then that kept crashing too as well as costant not responding windows online and offline.
I am so so frustrated due to the fact it is a brand new laptop, I have no idea what to do, never have experienced this before with a new laptop.

Please can someone help me, I would really appreciate it

I would take it back to the place you purchased it from and have them them fix or replace it under warranty.
