AVG 9 Free is now out for anyone that does not know.
I've just updated now. I had to uninstall AVG 8.5 though from the system and restart, since the directory changed of course from 8 to 9.
Other than that, installation was a breeze.
One massive feature that I've noticed this time round, is the inclusion of extra CPU core support.
AVG 8.5 didn't let you use the Affinity settings to turn off cores while scanning, so performing some tasks proved slow, as it took up a lot of resources.
AVG 9 on the other hand lets you do this, so I have it set to use 3 cores; leaving 1 free for other tasks. Much better.
I won't be bothered now about it doing scans while using the PC to do other things, as I always had to disrupt the scans before.
