annoying problem with my favorites

I've had this happen to my favorites on a couple different pc's (occasionally). I will have my favorites arranged where I want them but occasionally on its own they will arrange them self selves in alphabeticle order, then I have to look through the whole list to find something.
Is there a way to arrange them by date or alphabeticale order? Or lock them where I put them? Thanks in advance Terry.

for the ones I use the most,I go to C:/user/fav from there I opt for rename and put a hash tag in front of the writing,this always puts it at the top of the list
