Computers can run fine for long periods of time. Take servers for example that run 24/7

Default The True Test...

I am going to put my computer through a true test. I am going to leave it on for as long as I can. I want to see how long it will last on without turning it off or restarting it. Two minutes so far!

That's a pretty random idea, most pc's will run indefinitely as the other have stated.

If you think any system will run for years without shutting down, you haven't seen my brothers computer... His randomly restarts and I gave up trying to find the problem long ago. He could just be installing updates and it restarts. We bought a bunch of new stuff and it still didn't fix it... His computers are doomed to fail, his last system didn't run too great at 2 years old. I traded systems with him and not long after, that system began acting up... This is why I don't let him use mine...

Stop wasting energy with stupid tests.

You all should turn off your computers after youre done using them - especially to conserve energy and help the environment.

I keep mine on a lot, but it was shut down once recently (power surge) and I'm going to shut it down when I need to install another cd drive.

I run mine and put it in hibernate when not using it. Restart it about every 2 weeks or so I guess when it starts to slow down. Sometimes I will shut it down and leave it off for the night.

Let us know if you get this error

Computers when left on for long periods, I find slow down somewhat.
They do require restarts to clear.
There is no need to leave them on when not required.

Fans for example only last a certain amount of time, and the same can be said for the components, of which there are a lot of.

If the computer isn't being used, and isn't being used for any task, leaving it fully on, even in a sleep state is wasting power, and wasting the computers resources.
