Seagate aquires Samsung HD division

I'd have to personally disagree, I've never had luck with Samsung hard drives. Maybe now they'll get better.

I can't decide which is crappier, Samsung or Seagate. I've had problems with both...

Never had problems with Seagate. All my Seagate drives never failed on me, even the ones that's 10+ years old.
I'm glad Seagate acquired Samsungs HDD division. Makes the RMA so much easier with their advanced RMA. The only bad thing is Seagate's advanced RMA cost $10 more than WD (free for WD iirc).

IMO, all HDD is the same. They all fail eventually, so I just get the cheaper one if it was for storage.

With people favoring SSDs, flash storage, and cloud computing, the HDD business isn't profitable anymore. It's not like 5 years ago when there was a real difference in quality between manufacturers.
