Were you running Vista? I'm currently running W7 and I have to say I love it! Other than installation and activation, I have yet to encounter a major grievance. I would suggest you take a look into it, especially if you know someone who could hook you up with the student upgrade for $30. It's definitely a steal!

I'm going to install it on my Internet drive so I have a triple boot set up.

Just got to figure out if I can partition without loosing my XP install.

Don't delete anything. You can fix GRUB. Google it first.

It still doesn't like my printer. Apparently it works fine connected via USB, but networked is too much to ask, I guess. In 9.04 it tried to reprogram it, and now it just doesn't work. Any ideas? I had SAMBA installed, and the printer is an HP officejet 4215. I used the suggested drivers.

I just installed Ubuntu 9.10 32-bit and I'm pleased with how well it worked out of the box. The big thing that kept me from using it was that I couldn't get it to work with SPDIF audio output, but it seems like that issue's been addressed. Now the only three things keeping me from running it 24/7 is iTunes, Zoombrowser EX (Canon utility that makes things easy), and gaming.
