Default Glasses - can't see anything.

Glasses really suck. First of all, there's a strange rectangle-ish outline staring right back at me wherever I look and second I can't see much better than I could before. Is this normal?

Are these your first glasses? I mean, it took me a while to get used to mine (before I got contacts). They are supposed to increase your vision by a lot, so I don't know why you can't see much better with them on.

I'm supposed to be getting contacts but I have these too... I'll never get contacts in anyway since I can't touch my eye at all. :/

I know they're supposed to increase my vision... just wondering if at first things looking a little strange is normal or not?

I was the same way with contacts man. When I first got them it took an hour to get it in.

As for glasses, I was the same way when I first got them too. All I noticed was the rims around my eyes, and the new object on my nose. You get used to it to a point where you only notice it if you think about it.

It's the fact that I can't pull open my eye very good or touch it that's definitely gonna prevent me from getting contacts.

I can see okay without glasses... it's the astigmatism that makes me need them, I think.

Haha, for like a week I had trouble putting my contacts in. Now I can do it with two fingers, typing with the other hand and squinting. As opposed to what people say, it is really easy to put them in.

But can you touch your eye before that without it immediately closing? my fingers can't get anywhere near my eye before it closes and it doesn't let anyone pull it open.

Haha, I can touch it if my contact is on my finger. It doesn't hurt at all. However, when you think you have your contacts in, but you don't, and you try to take them out... OUCH.

But if you actually learn to use them... it is so nice not having the glasses.

They are OK, you get used to them too. However, when you wear contacts, you forget about them and it just feels like normal... like without the glasses...

However, glasses DO have their advantages. Like with contacts, in the mornings they are blurry, and sometimes they fall out which feels horrible.

umm no its because very few people have perfect eyes unlike me which i cherish not having to wear any type of eye enhancing products. its basically due to 20-20 vision being extremely uncommon now a days

I was probably as bad as you or worse with touching my eyes before I got contacts. Just practice, practice, practice.

Spend a few minutes in the mirror every day holding open your eyelids and touching / almost touching your eye if your hands aren't super clean. In a week you'll be able to do it fine. If you go to the eye doctor they'll show you the proper "technique" to do it.

Believe me, it's so worth it to get rid of the glasses. I wore glasses for years, I'll never go back now that I have contacts.

@ Rudster,

If you get contacts early, your vision improves to perfect over time.

@LeGoogelGuRu: They might feel weird, but they don't have to look weird. Back when I wore them, I had nice armani frames:
