70's/80's Party Theme- What to wear?

I honestly don't know what to wear for my friend's party. Should I even bother looking at specialty stores that have costumes and stuff, or just be original and do some research and pick a nice tight shirt with some bellbottom jeans? Oldies and fans chime in.

that sounds like you're thinking more about the 60's but i guess that style did carry on into the early 70's.

My advice is to go 80's rockstar. You can never go wrong with that style. Long hair, Sleeveless T-shirt, bandana/headband, any sort of incorporation of animal print clothing.
