I have a server at work that i can connect to remotely by typing 24.78.212.85 into my internet browser. I have recently bought a new computer and when I type the url into the browser of the new computer it displays a webpage that looks like this.

24.78.212.85 - /

I dont know why this is happening the url in the address baris still correct. I have no problem connecting from my laptop. can someone please tell me whats going on?

Can you post a screenshot of the problem?

I suspect two things:

first that you have a dynamic IP address (the address you've posted from is not the same as the address that you're written in your post).

and your address has changed. so you're actually connecting to a fileserver being run by someone else.

Or, the configuration (specifically home directory) on IIS has changed.

or you were connecting with the tsweb (Terminal services web) client, and this is on a port other than port 80 and you're not putting in the port number
