streaming programs

ok kinda weird question
i have a program that win i run it, it streams a file onto my computer. The makers of the file do not want me to own the file but still allows me to use it. is there any way i can find out what the program is streaming and if i can actualy get a copy of the program instead of just streaming it every time i want to use it?

What is the program? How do you know it streams a file?
