Wireless Setup

Hi, I am thinking about buying a Netgear DG834G wireless router to replace my current Speedtouch 330 DSL modem and connect to my machine via a DLink DWL 510 wireless network card. Is this all that I need to connect my machine to the router or do I need an access point as well? The router will be connected to my phone line down the stairs while the PC is upstairs.

Cheers

That is a very expensive thing to do - unless you plan to extend into a network in the near future?

But yes - that is all you need - instructions to set it up as a network of one computer will be on there.

you're going to have to keep your dsl modem though, connect the modem to the router via ethernet...then you'll be ready to go
just make sure that you set up the router correctly and it should work right out of the box when you install the wireless adapter in your pc.

The netgear router you mention has a built in adsl modem. Just plug it in and let it connect.
