Hi everyone,

I have a Powerbook G4 and an IBM PC Pentium 4. I want to transfer a file from my PC, but it is over 4 GB and I don't have an external hard drive that my Mac can read. I have been told that I can set up my Network Preferences on both machines and transfer the file by connecting a firewire or ethernet cable between both computers.

I followed the instructions at this website:

http://www.macosxhints.com/article.p...31112091634533

... but I have not been able to make it work. I start up, WS-FTP Pro on my PC, type in "10.0.0.1/", followed by the username for my Mac, but it always says "Connect Failure."

Any idea what I'm doing wrong here?

You can download Win RAR on your Windows computer and divide the 4GB file into smaller 700MB files which you can then put on a cd, put it in you Mac OSX and then put the files back together with WinRAR for Mac OSX.
