Setting up a home network...

Hey all,

I would like to set up a network at home, mostly so that I can share files (docs + movies) between my computers. My main computer is my Apple Macbook laptop, and I also have a desktop computer running Windows hooked up to my TV in the living room. I download movies, etc. mostly with my Apple, but would love to be able to put them into a shared folder so that I can access them from my laptop (and play them on my TV). Can anyone help walk me through setting this up? What is the best, most efficient way to do this?

Thanks so much!

Christian

Well, step one: Purchase a wireless router. I've been happy with the Old WRT54G router, lasted me for years, and flashed DD-WRT on it.
Step Two, connect both PC's to the router.
Step Three, set up file shares on both PC's and make sure they have universal access rights. If you lock them down, they likely won't be able to talk to each other.
