Default remote internet access

Hello all. I had a question about being able to connect to the internet without any connection and without the use of using a proxy. What im trying to say is that if im on my laptop and there is not a connection around and i dont want to use a proxy that i found on the net is there a way to get on the net?? Like would it be possible to connect through my house connection or something of that nature??

thanks for your help.
