not sure what i need

Hello
Like the title says i am not sure what i need ,but here is my problem, I have a desktop connected to modem in basement of house on one side ,at other end of house on the main floor i want to connect an av reciever to the network( no way to run cable to it from basement) ,but it only has ethernet connection not wifi .
so do i needa router to connect behind reciever or is powerline adapter a better option ( not on same breaker does that matter ?)

Does your modem have WiFi? If so try this: Newegg.com - IOGEAR GWU627 Universal Wifi Adapter for Internet Ready TV, Game Consoles & Ethernet-Enabled Devices

There may be better/cheaper options...I've never used this one or any for that matter, just knew they existed as an option for you.

The router connects to the modem. From there get an access point and connect it to the AV Recv and program it for bridge mode. Bridge it to the wireless in the router.
