Default Networking Windows 2000 and XP, help please!!!

I just got a new computer and need to access and transfer files from my old one. The new one is running Windows 2000 Professional, the other is running XP Home Edition. The new one doesn't have any cd drives so i'd like to install things onto it using the old computer somehow. So far I've estabalished a LAN connection between the two and I'm connecting to the internet with the new one through the connection on the old one. I can't seem to get any farther than that. Detailed instructions on what the heck to do at this point will be greatly appreciated.
