I have a XP box, on a network with Server 2003. I try to open AD Users and Computers and get an error:
"naming information cannot be located the specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted"
This seems to be a DNS error from what I have found. I run nslookup and receive:
"can't find server name for 192.168.200.1: Timed Out"
I can access the server for any files or anything and when I restart my computer I can access AD for a few minutes. I reset the computer account and rejoined the domain and this didn't help.
I am stumped because all the DNS settings seem to be right. I have the server set as my primary DNS and our ISP as the secondary DNS. On the DNS server I have the server pointed to itself. I am confused.
Any ideas as to what I should do next?
