Computer based Phone

Dear Geeks:

I am a IT student and I have a project in our university titled:Computer Based Telephone Call Logging System... I came up to an idea where in the user can monitor his outgoing and ingoing calls. Save the calls to the computer, and when the owner is far away from hos PC, by just receiving an email or a sms text message, he will determine who call on his phone...

This is only my projection on my project.

So, cam you site some references that would be helpful for my project?

IN addition to this is that I may also use a CTI system... The only problem is on how to connect my computer automatically through the WAN and Wireless Networking for the mobile phone..
