Default Hello need some advice

I want to buy a decent cheap desktop (maybe a laptop).

I do play games often so I would like something that could run games quite good but nothing special and expansive and also I want alot of memory as I download alot of films n random shiz, not porn haha.

I went to a shop and they gave me quite a good offer;

Desktop make was called "gigabyte" never heard of it before

the desktop only came with 500gb hardrive and 4 gb ram and some shitty graphics card but the guy said he would change the ram and give me another hardrive and a different graphics card but would cost more. Does this sound fishy at all ? is he just desprate to sell ?

anyway this is what he offered.

1.5 terabyte hardrive
8 gb ram
i think a 1gb graphics card not to sure which make something like geeforce
i5 intel processor
windows 8 (never used it before)

all for: 480 euros/401 pounds/665 dollars including a monitor

is this a good deal ?

can any1 recommend a good desktop or laptop or even a good processor and graphics card ?

First of all, welcome aboard

Any experience building custom PC's? If yes, then I suggest doing so!

As for your specs, I recommend Windows 7 instead of 8 as it has better compatibility for games, and to make sure what video card it is, not just the video memory; e.g. 1GB. If it is Geforce, I recommend not less than GTX 650 Ti. Some stores just advertise the video memory as it if is the thing, but the chipset is what really matters the most!

That was for the technical part. As for the price part, all I can say is desktops are typically cheaper than laptops of the similar specs!

Best of luck with your search!

I just put something similar together in my best friends PC for $485 so no that's not a very good deal. I recommend going to websites and finding barebones kits, and writing down the parts that they provide, then surf the internet and find the lowest price on every part and then buy the parts and put it all together. IMO Barebones/PreInstalled/Computer Shop builds are way over priced. Happy building!
