I have read an essay talking about the y2k.
this is what I have read:

The scientists predicted that IT systems. ranging from meteorological devices and hospital equipment to data systems in governments, banks and airports, would fail. It was though embedded systems, which also made use of data logic, such as utilities and other crucial infrastructure, would collapse too.

What do they mean by embedded systems?
Why didn't that problem do what the scientists predicted?

Because most of the systems knew that 2000 came after 1999. Simple math that computer systems deal with all the time.

but the systems store 2 digits instead of 4

Welcome to 9 years ago........

Nothing happened because computers don't care what the date is. Turn the date on your pc back to 1900 and see what happens.......absolutely nothing. Y2K was nothing but fluff started by computer nerds to panic stupid people.
