xp got slower

My Xp just suddenly got much slower than it used to be. No new programs installed. I though it could be virus/spyware but nothing came up when I scanned my system. Also checked the startup, nothing suspicious there. Then I realized that my drives need some serious defragging. I though that it could be slow coz C (where the OS is) really needed a defrag. Well defragged C, still slow.
I'll defrag D later when I have the time.

So any suggestions how to make it fast again?

it does sound spyware/virus related.
have you checked the temp of your cpu?
when mine gets warm, the comp slows down. its just an idea to see what temp its running at.

I can't my crappy mobo doesn't let me check the temps.
But this just started a few days ago so I don't think it's got to do with overheating.

i would take the side casing off and make sure plenty of air can get to it. then see if it it gets any better. if it doesn't, then at least you have eliminated the overheating issue.
have you checked to see if all is ok with your memory?
