xp activation key

just installed an old copy of xp, however it wont let me use the activation key, so is it possible to just buy a new key and use that to activate my xp?

yeah im pretty sure that works. u just need a unique key, dont think it matters what xp disk you use.

eh, there should be a phone number on the xp cd case somewhere, call there. Sometimes you have to get them to reactivate it or something stupid like that.. theres windows for ya

they will ask you questions like,
are you installing the cd on the computer you first installed it on? SAY YES
not that you arnt or anything...

yeah try calling them first before going out and spending a crap load of money. Then just buy a new cd and license if it won't work.
