WINDOWS/System32 CRASHED! help please

ok during a virus sweep i stupidly was deleting everything that my comp said was a virus. it went into my window/system32 folder and i deleted something. anywhoo. my CD and DVD-RW drives dont work now. they dont read AT ALL! can any one help me? PLZ

It will boot up from it, in the boot sequence, the OS has no control what-so-ever over the CD drive.

The comp will read the disk, it's just that you will need to enter the BIOS to boot from it. If you don't know how, give us a buzz.

After I saw the top three posts I burst into laughter, I had to screen-print it haha, It was just the fact that it was like

"My CD/DVD/ROMS don't read disks"

"Have you tried repairing the O/S via the instillation discs"

"It doesn't read DISKS!"

well if xp has got a virus or is just screwed the cd drive should still work before xp boots. if it doesnt then maybe it isnt enabled in the bios or its unplugged, or screwed. could be other things aswell.
