I don't think it's pirated since i originally bought the cd and i lost it

Torrents can be legal or illegal depending upon the content. I downloaded OpenSUSE and Knoppix just yesterday with Utorrent. Perfectly legal. These torrents are still seeding with about 4 to 5 GBs uploaded so far.

idk I figure if you bought it before, and need a back up like ringtemek, then it should be legal

but that's just an opinion
idk if anyone here knows what the law is

edit: did some google'ing and torrents are legal
but the copyrighted stuff is illegal to download, unfortunately that's like 99% of stuff on there
i should have just used common sense for that lol

It should work as long as your key isn't an OEM from the likes of Dell or Gateway.
