wheres processor`

Nope, don't get that board.. It is 754 socket, which is extinct.. AMD does not make processors for that> I can tell you are on a budget, so go with these two things, It will be much better!

and this CPU-

And if that CPU is too much, I guess Go with THis one-

You will have to buy a heatsink with this one however, and REMEMBER!! YOU MUST BUY THERMAL COMPOUND TO PUT INBETWEEN THE PROCESSOR AND HEATSINK!! Here is a link to good stuff, but not best, since you are on budget:

Ok, GL

i wouldnt get new mobo and cpu, cuz i tried that with my compaq, had to get new hdd and new OS
i went from copaq p4 sock 478 1.5 ghz 400 fsb w/ compaq mobo to a athlon 64 3200+ with msi mobo, das basically all i changed and it wouldnt work so i wouldnt change mobos since u have a store bought
just upgrade ur cpu or else u will be doomed! nless u format ur hdd and get new os

im getting this motherboard:

and this cpu:

with this ram (i know its not the best ram for my new mobo, but im just taking it out of my old comp and ptuting it into my new one. i jsut want to know if the ram will work in it, i dont care if it wont be running at peek effiency:

http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?description=20-144-001&catalog=23&manufactory=BROWSE

and 184 pin ddr ram pc 2100 that came with my computer.

im tellin u, unless u have win xp on a cd, dun change ur mobo and cpu, cuz then u gonna have to format ur hdd or get a new one, just like i did

Your new config looks good if that's what you want to use. Your memory will work, but like you said, not running at it's peak efficiency. That's a good processor you're using.

kk the parts will be shipped out on monday, so ill probably have them around wednesday. how do you backup your internet drivers? last time i had to reinstall windows i couldn't connect to the internet sincethe drivers for it were missing. and also, how do you reformat your hdd like that guy was saying?

YEAH MAYORREDBEARD!! You took my advice, it will not fail you!! Make sure you have thermal compound, good compound also!! Without it, KABOOM!! SIZZZLLEE!! No more CPU.... You MUST HAVE thermal compound. GL :)

Don't worry, when you get the parts, the MOBO is nForce3 Ultra, so it has unified drivers, so Internet wont be a problem at all. Just DL forceware off www.nVidia.com for you MOBO. Easy as pie.

To reformat, just pop in your XP disk, and it will have an option to format and reinstall, do that, and wala, new drive!

lol amd i figure ive ignored your advice before and it really hasn't worked, so i mine as well try it :p. lol. What do you mean by thermal compound? and what does forceware do?

Thermal compound allows the heatsink to contact the processor. Without it, the processor will fry. You need to apply between 1-2mm of the compound to the top of the processor before mounting the heatsink and fan onto it. Forceware is nVidia's unified driver system. If you have nForce type MOBO, then basically, it is ALL the drivers and control applications for your MOBO in one nice package for you, easy eh?
