Alright. I am all kinds of pissed.
My computer has two IEEE 1349 (firewire ports). One is on-board and the other is on the sound card of all places. I have two firewires. One's old, and another one I bought today.
My computer all-of-a-sudden decided to stop detecting my camera. This happened after I plugged in my old firewire one day into the on-board firewire port, and as soon as the computer detected, my speakers made this high pitches squealing noise. I wanna say it sounded electric, but I don't know. I plugged it into the back one and nothing happened. Then I plugged it back into the front one and the same thing happened with the sound. I rebooted the computer, and then tried both ports again with absolutely nothing happening.
I bought a new firewire today to see if that was the issue. No success.
The only thing (i think) I haven't done is use someone else's computer to try this. I'm posting here because I want to know what I can do to fix it if it's a problem with my computer.
