What kinda of hd do i have and need

Grab this program:

Speccy - System Information - Free Download

Install and run it.

From here you can go two ways. You can find out what kind of motherboard you have by clicking on the motherboard link on the left, or you can go directly to the hard drives link and see what you already have installed.

The motherboard info will tell you exactly what motherboard you have, and how many ports it has (you'll have to look up the motherboard online in some cases)

But the hard drive tab will tell you what you have already, which is a sure fire way to do it without needing to look up any information online already.

The line that says "SATA Type" will tell you if you have a SATA drive. If it says "IDE Type" then you have an IDE hard drive.

If you notice on mine, the SMART errors are all pegged - this is because the hard drive in this PC is an SSD, so the values are different for these kinds of drives. It's nothing to worry about. You want your results to be different.
