USB LED Indicator

I was thinking If there is a way of indicating data transfer going through a USB cable using a LED. A hardware version though, not through software.
To put you in perspective, I'm making a USB Hub built into my desk using USB extension cables, and It would be pretty cool to have this indicator LED right next to the USB cable. The idea was born when I realised that some of my USB drives, or phone doesn't have this indicator.

What I meant, is that the LED would light up only if there is data being transfered, like a hardrive activity LED on the computer.
