URGENT!! Building a computer

hi

abt two days ago my friend bought a whole new set of hardwares to make a new computer.

He faced a big problem already

He started installing Windows xp.
He got the partion done,
he was in the formatting process

and then when his harddisk was 67% formatted, he suddenly hears loud BEEPS from his mother board

he turned off the computer, and tried to install windows again.
This time, the system wont even recognize the disc

This is the error sign he got - "Error loading operating system."
After this, he went into bios to change the order of the booting hardwares.
he changed to this: 1st - CD Rom


Now he restarted again to try install the windows
It seemed ok, but didnt work again
This is the error message:

"Loading from .......Error loading operating system"



What could be wrong?
all the hardwares are brand new
they're only like 2 days old. =p


Some help would be really nice,

Brand new,can't you figure that out ? Take the damn thing(s) back.
Why ask here ???

Has he tried to delete the partition then create a new primary partition, then format it, then install the OS, this should work as it happened to me when i was installing 98 on my old comuter.

This really isn't URGENT,slow down

Think man think,Mine was put together by a pro-for free.I'm happy.

Hmm if he was building his computer, the error loading operating system is suppose to be a good thing. It is a signal that there is NO OS and that u should install it. Understand?

Of course i do,You need a formated HD to do this.At this point you have to interupt the bios with a cd or a floppy.

but cp_4eva doesn't understand the steps to get this done.

OMG
u guys wont believe what the problem was

I later found out that my friend was using a wireless keyboard/mouse set on his machine

well obviously, the computer's not able to input any data from the usb rite? since there's no drivers?

yeah, that was it
i changed to the "old" keyboard and it worked
he got his computer working now, =p

what a careless mistake, heh
