upgrading

Hi
im upgrading my brothers computer
so he can play newer games on it and have media center on it
currently he has an asus xxxxx mobo, will find out what model
AMD AM2 Athlon 3500
Nvidia 7600GT
1GB RAM
80GB Seagate HDD
XP Home

im wanting to upgrade it but keap the cost as low as possible
so new cpu, possibly athlon x2 to save current mobo
get a cheapish GPU that will run games to a respectable standard
TV Tuner
and XP Media Center
or vista home premium

any help would be greatly appreciated

he can use the tv software bundled with the tuner

As far as the CPU goes, you could try a 5400+ BE if the motherboard is socket AM2. If it's 939 then the best you could do without upgrading the motherboard is probably a 4800+ (rated at 2.4GHz I think). As far as GPU, you might have to get a PSU with a PCI-e connector depending on a card. You could go with a 8800GTS (which is at a very good price right now: $80 with promo code).

If you do buy the 5400+ BE you'll need an aftermarket cooler.

its an am2 so you can put almost anything you want in it
it is cheaper with buying an am2 dual instead of a 939 dual
