please help!

i just build a new system, and when i run the installation cd for the hard drive it won't recognized it, i think its the ata cable beacuse the power cable is fine. i use a maxtor 250 gb hard drive with a ultra ata/133 interface

Most bios are not going to reconize a drive that large. I would look for a bios upgrade that supports drives that size or Call the manufacturers support and see what they say.

Have you tried to partition/format it? Also, check in the bios. Is it being detected there? I've never worked with an HD that large, so as Gary says, it might require some bios patch/upgrade to get it working...

Hmmm... how old is the Motherboard cause I don't think anything more than a year, maybe year and a half will recognise a Hard Drive that big. My old computer just two years old, couldn't even recognise a 160Gig Hard Drive when I tried it.
