Speaker volume only shows

I just built a new system with a Creative E-MU 0404 sound card and everything is good except that I have tried several different speaker configurations and the sound still only comes out the left side then I discovered last night that when I went into the sound properties to speaker settings that there was only a left volume notch. could something have happened during Windows installation where the right speaker volume tab was not installed. I have the proper service packs if that could be the cause.

installed the latest drivers for your soundcard?

I would try new sound drivers. Also see if the speakers work fine on another comptuer/other speakers work on your computer.

It is not the speakers, i have tried different speakers and they all have the same result on this machine.

When you go to Control Panel -> Audio Devices -> Speaker Settings -> Speaker Volume are there notches to adjust volume?

There is only a left side speaker volume notch in which there is only sound coming out the left sound of any speakers I throw at it.
