No, because you can falsify header information in an email.
This means that the sender address listed might not actually be the person who sent it.
The return adress can be falsified, and even the return path, that would let you track down what server it came from may have had information added that would obscure your ability to even trace the machine the mail came from.
The SMTP protocol has some obvious flaws that have been exploited, Four letter replies to innocent parties are not going to stop spam, and just make you look stupid.

also, some mass mailers don't even know if the addresses their sending the mail to are valid. if you reply to the message, you are verifying that it is a real address, then they will send you more. Of course, if you block them, I guess it wouldn't matter, but I don't think they would really care if you send them any four letter replies.
How are you going to block them? Most spam filters (where you actually have to block senders) only block by address, and more than perhaps 30 undelivered messages that aer bounced by a spam filter and the spammer just needs to change his/her sender address.
There is not really much point in blocking spammers by the address they are sending it from sinlpy because it is easy to forge the sender address to a new (not yet blocked) address.

. But anyway, I would say that I disagree, only because most mass mailers are using fake addys, and, like root said, all they have to do is change their address. I wish that way would work, but it just would make things worse (in my opinion)

I don't get Spam! Years ago I got some Erection Problems and Viagra adverts but that was the most.

I dont get any.....but people are using my msn email to send it. :S No idea why.. or how they got it

It is easy enough to get an MSN E-mail. And not all spam is big business multi-e-mail spamming.
