Hello All. EMachines computer, 3 months old, Athlon64 2 ghz, 768 megs of ram. When I got this computer the dvd/rw drive was slow at ripping and burning. I found out how to force UDMA mode, and that fixed it. It worked beautifully. I also have a second DVD/ROM that I installed, it worked fine after fixing UDMA. I have just checked and my computer tells me it is still using UDMA mode, not PIO. BUT both drives are slow. Im ripping a cd right now and it will only go to about 3.5 X and it's making my machine slow. Also, the icons in my computer won't change unless I restart, and they won't autoplay unless i put a cd in and reboot. WHAT can I do to fix this problem? THANKS!!!

Just uninstall them from device manager then restart your computer. After that go back and do what you did ( force udma mode ). See what happens
