simple question

ok my dad has a compaq preasrio

it has a intel celeron in it running at like 2 to 3 ghz or somehting like that
and 256 mb of ram..and also it has on board video

i was wondering if i put 512 mb of ram in it will it show a HUGE difference in the speed in the computer

its really slow and im trying to help my dad out..(im gunna build him on soon lol)
also if there is nething else i can do to make it faster like a video card..im goin to best buy right now and im only gunna spend $30 US because hes getting a new one soon

if not im gunna start bring my computer to his house when i go there

Yeha, 512mb would help a lot. 512mb is becoming the minimum to have on a computer now. 2gb is almost common. 1gb is standard. So yeah, anything that he does, 512mb would help speed it up.

Yeha, well, it depends on what he does. Gaming, oh yeah. Anything else, not really.

The 512MB of Ram will be a big improvement and cleaning up everything that consumes Ram will help. Don't think installing a plug in video card will help. Doubt if your cpu is anywhere near 3 gb, probaly closer to 2.4 gb. If your going to build a new copmputer it will run $700-800 for a good PC.
