removing virus(?)

Hi there,

I'd like to get some help with the following problem:

Since a couple of weeks a bug or virus comes through on my computer while connecting with the internet. This invader, called xxxdial -usersname: zxmhq- takes over my modem-internet connection and is not detected by the latest updated Norton Antivirus protection. I therefor am not sure it is a virus. I'm also not sure as to the effects it can have on my computersystem. So far, it just takes over.
I deal with it by shutting my connection all together and by removing all traces I can find of xxxdial in the temporary internet files, computer- frontpage, startmenu and modemsystem. It still keeps coming back.
Any serious suggestion from someone who dealt with this succesfully would be welcome. Thanks. Madox.

I think its just a spy program, not a virus.

Try add remove programs. I think it manifests itself there.

If not Spybot Search and Destroy should combat it.

And stay away from those w#rez sites.

man I these filters.

Looking at porno eh? :D

Yes, it is spyware.

And as far as removing it goes, you should be able to manually search for "xxxdial" (w/out quotes) and delete it, right?

or just try downloading and installing this...

Spybot S&D
Adaware
